Painted in June 2007
Sold to a client in England
I heard that singer Beyonce was staying at the Mandarin hotel in London during a visit to the UK.
I worked for over 50 hours on an elaborate portrait of her. Using an iridescent paint in the background that shimmers purple and blue when the light catches it, plus a holographic glitter on the beads of her outfit that glow different colour in the light.
I travelled 100 miles up to London and waited outside the hotel one afternoon, for about 3 hours.
There was a dozen or so other fans there hoping to meet her.
When she came out of the hotel I called out to her to ask her to sign my portrait, but she said “No, sorry” and got into a waiting car.
I later read in the newspapers that she was on her way to a shopping trip in London.
I guess you should never come between a celebrity and their shopping!
Somehow the New York Daily Newspaper must have seen my website or video and posted a small article about it in their paper. (see photos).
Below is the film of Beyonce leaving the hotel and not wanting to sign autographs for the fans…
