Acrylic on canvas - 30 inch x 24 inch

Roger Moore kept the painting for himself

I read the Roger Moore would be giving a book signing event after an interview on stage at The National Theatre in London in October 2008.

I worked for over 35 hours on the portrait to attain a true likeness.

I then travelled 100 miles up to London to meet Roger Moore at the book signing event.

Roger was sitting at a desk with his wife and daughter.

When they saw my painting I was about to ask Roger to autograph it when his wife asked "Can we keep it?".

I was a nice thought to know my portrait would be on display at his home, so I gave it to Roger for free.

I gave them my business card too with my contact details but I never had any contact from the family since I gave them the portrait, so I didn’t know what became of it.

Below is a film of Roger Moore taking the portrait.

In 2023, Roger’s son had an auction at Bonham’s auction house in London, of all of Roger’s belongings. My portrait was one of the items in the auction, so it’s nice to know he kept it all those years.

The painting sold for £2,816.

I believe the money went to the Moore family estate although a report in the media says a percentage of the entire auction went to charity. I am glad my portrait has helped a charity in some small way.
