As a huge football fan, the Brazilian footballer Pele is my sporting hero, undoubtedly the greatest footballer of all time.

Scoring over 1300 goals in his career, appearing in 3 World Cup finals and displaying skills and patterns of play that had never been seen before.

His autobiography even accounts a plaque that was made for his club’s stadium to commemorate a goal he scored where he received the ball at one end of the pitch and single handedly beat all 11 opposing players to score!

I met Pele at a book signing event in 2005, just before I began my career as an artist. A few years later I painted a portrait of him, hoping to one day meet him again and ask him to autograph it, but so far that day has not arrived…
